Orfila Winery: Wine Tasting and Photoshoot Inspo
Orfila Winery, located in Escondido, is San Diego’s largest winery with over 36 acres of vineyards and 70 acres of property, making it the perfect outing and day trip! The land that Orfila Winery is on, is considered to be a reserve and a part of the San Pascal Agricultural Preserve, which basically means the city of San Diego owns the land.
At Orfila, there are three whites and seven reds all grown and produced locally on property. Guests can come and sample at any point, with a large tasting room. My personal favorite is the sparkling white wine they have!
The winery and wine cellar have daily tours running throughout the property, where wine facts and tips about consuming wine are given! A fun fact I learned while visiting here was that the white wine is locked in these barrels for 8-10 months, while the red can be in for 2 years!
Throughout the vineyard and property, there are owl boxes scattered around. This is encourage local owl friends to visit, while scaring away squirrels and gophers that eat the vineyards! There are 15 of these boxes (pictured below) throughout the property.
Many locals refer to this winery as the one on the way to the Safari Park! After so many years of driving by this winery, I finally decided to stop by! Next time you are driving out to the Safari Park, make sure to stop and have a glass of wine-you will not be disappointed!
