What better way to get into the Christmas spirit than walking around a one million light display over the stunning property of Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. Located 15 mins from downtown Nashville, 55 acres of lush, green gardens grow throughout the city.

During the winter holiday season, Cheekwood illuminates their grounds, decorating a one-mile walking trail full of holiday cheer. During the rest of the year, Cheekwood can be enjoyed during the day, as the gardens can always be walked around. In addition, Cheekwood has a restaurant on property with stunning views of the gardens.

Cheekwood is the ideal place to have a date night. The gardens have fire pits throughout the light walk, where you can roast marshmallows for s’mores, which can be purchased at the snack stand. There are also hot beverage carts scattered around, where a hot chocolate can be enjoyed to keep you warm.

The Cheekwood Museum is home to a living poinsettia tree, also known as the giving tree. Here, the room was filled with a lovely aroma and a bright cheerful spirit. Inside, the sound of carolers filled the mansion. Christmas song requests were being taken, as the carolers were filled with joy to sing along! These gardens are the perfect location to take your family, as Santa is present, along with living reindeer!

Traveler Tip: Cheekwood was the perfect way to get into the festive spirit of the holidays. Being from California, I was very cold in the 40 degree weather, so I suggest wearing lots of layers, drinking warm beverages, and hand warmers!!
